Pneumonochrome

So, yeah. My kids are cute. I love this picture of my son and his sister right after she was born.

One of my hobbies is reading web comics. There’s some great stuff out there. One that I enjoy more often than not is xkcd. The geek jokes alone are of epic quality. Occasionally, something he mentions in the comic intrigues me though. Today’s post is one of those times. A recent comic (the penultimate one, as of this posting) was about geohashing. I’ve heard of geocaching before, and this is kind of a geek version of that, though it lets us get our geek on and meet people, as he’s designated a time (Saturdays at 4:00 pm) for xkcd readers to visit that day’s geohash coordinates and meet up.

We might have to do that one of these weeks and see if there’s anyone else in my area that is geeky that way.

So, my son was up before I left for school this morning. Right before I left, I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. My son really loves brushing his teeth, and he ran into the bathroom and stood up on the little stool we have in there for him and grabbed his toothbrush. I turned on the water for him and he wet his brush and started brushing, rewetting it a few times while I was brushing my own teeth. When I finished and rinsed off my toothbrush, he did too. When I set my toothbrush back in the holder, he did too, waiting until I did. He then waited until I rinsed out my mouth, and tried to rinse out his (he puts his hand under the water and then rubs it on his lips), and when I spit the last of the toothpaste out, he climbed back up on his stool and spat in the sink as well. It’s so amazingly cute to watch him mimicking his mother and I doing everyday things like this. I really love it.

So, I guess my little brother hadn’t slept all day the day he left Bangkok, and then didn’t sleep on the plane, and didn’t sleep last night, so he was running about 72 hours with no sleep.  He finally crashed about 2:00 this afternoon.  He’s still asleep.  Poor kid.

Woo-hoo.  I made it all the way through the month, a post every day.  Yay for NaBloPoMo.  Today has been a long day so far, but it’s going to have a great ending.  My little brother has been in Thailand serving a religious mission for the last couple of years, and I have another brother who lives across the country.  The missionary brother comes home tonight, and the other brother is in town to see him too.  All my siblings are going to be around this weekend, and it’s going to be awesome to get to see them, though I doubt I’ll study like I ought to.  Just a couple more hours until I get to see them all.  We’ll have a busy weekend, as my mom wants to do family pictures this weekend while everyone is here, so we’ve got that planned, and I want to hang out with them while they’re here too, so I’m trying to study hard right now (except I’m posting on my blog right now, so maybe I’m not trying that hard), so I can take some time off to hang out with them.  I’m really excited though, and having a hard time concentrating on my Psychiatry.  I guess I’d better wrap this up and get back to that.
