Grumble grumble…

Power supply on my computer died today. And because I have a beefy computer that I can’t have down for three to five days while a power supply from New Egg arrives, I had to run to CompUSA and get a new 520W power supply. That set me back 100 bucks. Grrr. No iPod for me any time soon.

Sigh… Disaster averted

So, I’ve had some personal things going on that threatened disaster this weekend, but I found out today that the disaster has been averted. I won’t go into what they were, but I will say that today has been a day of reflection and expression of gratitude to God for helping me through the weekend. As part of my day of reflection, I decided it was time to post the blog entries I’d prepared from my trip to Ethiopia. They can be found in the travel category of the blog, or the month of July, however you intend to look them up.

I also had a practice interview today with one of the members of my University’s medical school admissions committee. We had a good interview. When he was giving me feedback, he asked me, “Why didn’t you get in last year?” I wanted to say, “I KNOOOW!” I satisfied myself with a simple, “I don’t know, but I confident I’ll get in this time around.” I did feel a bit vindicated though. Grumble, grumble numbers game grumble grumble. Anyhow, that’s really all I have to write about today, other than a splitting headache, and you don’t want to hear about that.

As the Day Expires

I do a little writing and photography every now and then. This is one of those times. Below is a poem inspired by the sunset the pictures you see here are from.

As the day expires

If all death were like the death of day,
I would not fear sliding slowly into silent darkness
painted by the beauty of life
meeting the approaching horizon with glory,
subtly changing,
as the crypt of night rises ever closer
to encapsulate all that I had been.
